Overview
JPC offers a unique curriculum that allows each teacher to focus on the subject that they are most passionate about. In addition, it allows all staff members to get to know all the students. This helps promote the JPC family motto! Each student will have Journaling/Cooking, Math/Science, Art, & Social Emotional/ Sign Language class in addition to the special of the day which includes Soccer, music 3 times a week, Library and Shabbat.
In Journaling, students will develop a love of reading and writing by being the authors of their own Journal. Students will spend all year working on their Journal while growing and developing their love for literature. Once a week, students will become Chefs and create a meal that fits the theme of the week.
In Math, students become engaged with numbers and shapes. With a hands-on approach to math, students have fun learning the building blocks of numbers which creates a path for success in our 3-dimensional world. Though science is incorporated throughout the entire curriculum, once a week, students will put their science skills to the test and incorporate a science experiment that fits with the theme of the week.
In Art, students are immersed in a hands-on approach to Art which allows students to grow their own creativity process. We believe in open-ended art and provide the students with a variety of materials that fits with the artist of the month. Once students learn about the artist, they are given the freedom to create their own masterpieces in that artist's style.
With all the creativity flowing, Social Emotional & Sign Language class allows students to take time to reflect on their work and their feelings. It allows students a chance to learn about different emotions and what they all mean within the span on a busy day. This class allows students to learn to self regulate and grow confidence in their own abilities to advocate for the things they want and need.
